About Me.
Teaching. I am a Teaching Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently serving as Faculty Director of the MS in Data Science. I design and deliver statistics and data science curricula across in-person, hybrid, and fully online (Coursera) modalities.
Research. My primary interests are in applied statistics and the philosophy of statistics. My early work integrated statistical methods into photovoltaic (solar cell) performance models. My current work involves research in philosophical issues in statistics and data science. I am interested in the conceptual foundations of inference and how those foundations shape what we can responsibly infer from data. I have also worked on applications for residential building energy analysis and on a consulting team that provides statistical litigation support.
Leadership. I have 8+ years of leadership experience in professional master’s education, including curriculum development, governance, and cross-unit coordination.
